A Day of Cleansing

Day 8 -

Unlike many of the panoramic landscapes we’ve passed through our bikes have an extremely limited amount of room. After all the other necessities (food, water, tents, sleeping bags, etc), room for clothing is at a premium. All the clothing we carry must fit in a bag about the basketball, and well, 8 hot days into the trip, the few clothing items we have are pretty nasty.Today we decided to remedy this situation by doing some laundry. Thankfully the RV Park we stayed in last night had everything we needed to accomplish this. So in went the sweat-stained jerseys, crusty socks, INSERT-NASTY-ADJECTIVE-HERE-stained shorts, smelly gloves and other articles of clothing, and out came some fresh(er) clothing. Taking a que from our efforts, mother nature did some cleaning of it’s own and washed the soot-filled air clean with an afternoon thunderstorm.

After our monster ride from yesterday, and an offer of a home-cooked meal and place to stay, we decided to take it easy today by riding the short 10.7 miles to Columbia Falls. There we stayed at the house Janini and Brian (the sister of one of Kelly’s friends) and filled our stomachs with a delicious homecooked meal and huckleberry pie.

Gear

It seems a lot of people are interested in our gear – the bikes, trailers, tents, etc. Later in the trip we plan to write reviews on some of the more important items, in the meantime we’ve created a Gear Page.
